Submission puts a manuscript on this list. From that day its row states the venue and the review state.

What a paper record carries

Specification 620 fixes the row. Eight fields, and each one appears once the fact behind it exists.

Status
The publication state. A public row reads Published, Superseded or Withdrawn.
Title
The exact manuscript title. No marketing rewrite.
Authors
Every author in submission order, with an ORCID beside each author who holds one.
Journal or preprint venue
The journal or the preprint server, once the manuscript reaches one.
Year
The year of the version being cited, in tabular figures so that a column of years stacks.
DOI or identifier
The minted DOI. Where no DOI exists, the persistent OpenDeco identifier stands in its place.
One-sentence abstract summary
Written for the index. An abstract is never auto-truncated into this line.
Links
Read, PDF, Data, Code and Cite. A link appears when its target exists.

Citation and version history

A paper row carries its citation before it carries its link.

Every version keeps its own address, so an earlier citation still resolves once a revision supersedes it. A withdrawn paper stays public with the withdrawal stated on the page. Removing it would hide the withdrawal from everyone who already cited it.

Every identifier printed in a row resolves. Where no DOI has been registered, the row prints the persistent OpenDeco identifier and states that no DOI exists.

Four surfaces carry the work that exists today.
